4W Resistive Touch Panel
Technology
Four-wire resistive technology is the simplest to understand and manufacture. It uses two layers of X and Y axis measurements. The 4 wire technology uses both the upper and lower substrates in a touch screen to determine the X and Y axis coordinate. Usually the Y axis uses the outer substrate, which is the flexible coversheet, as a uniform voltage gradient. The inner or bottom substrate acts as the voltage probe.

The 4 wire resistive touch screens are primarily used in mobile applications, such as smart phones, PDA, e-books, web pads, digital cameras, GPS, and other consumer or office electronics.
